Law enforcement from 4 different counties spent 3 and a half hours in a car chase across the region that ended up with one dead. At midnight last night a Livingston police officer began a routine traffic stop on Colita street but the driver of the car, 50-year-old John Kofron, didn't stop. He got on 59 and traveled north all the way to the Neches river bridge near Diboll. Then he turned and went southbound all the way down to Montgomery County. A San Jacinto deputy deployed spikes twice before the car finally came to a stop. At 3:30 this morning Kofron fired his pistol Killing himself once the car stopped. Authorities aren't sure why he ran and are still investigating the case.
