Kennard Teen Dies Following Auto Accident

An East Texas teen was killed and another critically injured late yesterday afternoon following a car accident just south of Kennard.

According to DPS officials, 17 year old Michael Cagle died from injuries after the car he was a passenger in lost control on county road 4625 and slid into a group of trees.  Investigators say he was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the car, 20-year old Devon Parrish of Crockett, was not wearing a seatbelt, according to a DPS report.  Parrish was transported to the ETMC in Tyler with internal injuries.  He's listed in critical condition.

D-P-S officials say it appears the car was traveling in excess of the posted speed.
