Ora Clyde Collins Jr
Ora Clyde Collins, Jr., 86, of Diboll, was born December 10, 1921, in Columbia, Mississippi, the son of the late Amanda (Tolar) and Ora Clyde Collins, Sr. He passed away Friday, December 21, 2007, in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Collins was a retired self-employed petroleum engineer consultant, and was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of the American Legion, DAV, VFW, Masons and Shriners, all Mississippi chapters. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the 505 82nd Airborne Division as a Medic, and was a Purple Heart recipient. Mr. Collins was a member and Deacon of First Trinity Presbyterian Church in Laurel, Mississippi.
Survivors include his daughter, Deborah C. Tipton of Diboll; son, Jeffrey C. Collins of McKinney; grandchildren, Jennifer Tipton of Hutto, Jessica Tipton of Lufkin, Joshua Tipton of Leander, Colleen Collins of Vicksburg, MS, Jackie Collins of McKinney and Javen Collins of McKinney; great-grandson, Ryan Tipton of Hutto; sister, Ruth Silva of Georgia; and a number of other family members.
Mr. Collins was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruth Surles Collins, on August 27, 2000; his brother, Charles E. Collins; and sisters, Laurice Grove and Ruby Collins.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Collin's memory to the Veterans Memorial Museum, Inc., 920 Hillcrest Drive, Laurel, Mississippi 39440.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
