Ruth Wright and her Devilettes had won a lot of games in Huntington.
42 straight in district play.
But the Devilettes could never close the deal in the playoffs.
That all changed on a rainy day in Huntsville.
The Devilettes got just enough offense and another great pitching performance from freshman Carley Thomas, to sweep Giddings, and make their first ever trip to state.
"It feels great. I knew we could do it. I believed we could," said Huntington senior Jenny Winthrop.
"It's been a true ride the whole season. We've set some goals and achieved them. Our quest was this part, but it's hard to believe," said coach Wright.
Huntington lost a heartbreaker in Austin.
