Police Chase

by Christa Lollis

A man from humble is in police custody after he led police on a chase through 2 counties.   At 11:30 Diboll police clocked 59-year-old Ronald Brown going 103 miles an hour.   When the officer tried to pull the driver over he kept going and led police on 45 minute chase.   He went north on 59 to Lufkin and got on loop 287.   Police threw spikes, blowing out 1 tire right when he got back on 59 north headed to Nacogdoches.   As he approached Nacogdoches city limits police threw out more spikes blowing out two more tires.   None of this detered the driver.   He continued at speeds between 80 and a hundred and fifteen miles an hour.   Finally in Appleby he slid off the road and police apprehended him.   He will be charged with evading arrest but since this is his second offense for that, it will be a third degree felony instead of a state jail felony.   DPS, Nacogdoches and Lufkin police and the sheriff's offices from Nacogdoches and Angelina county all helped Diboll with the chase.
