Douglas Franklin Roach
Funeral service will be held for Mr. Douglas Franklin Roach, age 89, of Nacogdoches at 2 PM on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. John Branham officiating. Burial will follow at Old North Church Cemetery.
Mr. Roach passed away Thursday, December 27, 2007 in Nacogdoches.
Born in Ambrose, TX on April 23, 1918, he was the son of the late Arva and Nettie (Hinson) Roach. He served in the United States Army Air Force as a MSGT during WW II and was awarded the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with two bronze stars, Good Conduct Medal and WW II Victory Medal. He was a member of American Legion and lifetime member of Church of the Nazarene and served as an Elder and Minister for over forty years. He did enjoy hunting and fishing and dreamed of the day he could get back outside to go like he used to. Mr. Roach loved his family, his church and many friends.
He is preceded by his wife, Eugenia (Wiese) Roach, one brother and three sisters and survived by his son, Stephen Roach of Garrison; granddaughter, Alisha Zarate and husband Poco of Oklahoma City, OK; grandsons, Travis Roach and wife Angela of Nacogdoches and Tyler Roach of Nacogdoches; step-granddaughters, Britni Burgin and husband Gary of Nacogdoches and Kendra Stokes of Garrison; great-grandson, Austin Stokes of Garrison; brother-in-law, Frank Wiese of Nacogdoches and sister-in-law, Lois Coleman of Nacogdoches.
Active pallbearers will be Poco Zarate, Harvey Hammack, Elmer Kipps, Marlin Hughes, Lavon Lunsford and Tyler Roach.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 28, 2007 from 5 until 7 PM at Laird Funeral Home.
