Lufkin Police Report - 12/28/07

ENDANGERING A CHILD: Witnesses saw a couple place a child in the trunk of a silver car in the parking lot of Angelina Village Shopping Center just after 5p.m. on Thursday.  The witnesses called police and gave the car description and license number.  Officers stopped the car at a mall across the street moments later and found a 6 year old female in the trunk of the car.  The child was not injured. Wendy Lea Carroll, 30, and Joseph Daniel McGuire, 35, of Diboll were arrested and each was charged with one count of Endangering a Child, a State Jail Felony.

THEFT/B: 100 BLOCK OF ZEAGLER. Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend came to her residence and stole her cell phone after they had an argument Thursday night.

HARASSMENT: 300 BLOCK OF CHARLTON. Complainant reported that her ex-boyfriend has been sending threatening text messages and left a threatening message on her voice mail.

BURGLARY/HABITATION: 100 BLOCK OF KENTWOOD DRIVE. Complainant reported that a stereo and some new children's clothing were stolen during a residential burglary that occurred Thursday.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: 4600 BLOCK OF MEDFORD. Complainant reported that his vehicle was scratched with some type sharp object all down the left side Thursday afternoon.

ASSAULT/AGGRAVATED: 2300 BLOCK OF ATKINSON DRIVE. Complainant reported that a known suspect pulled a knife on her and swung the knife at the complainant several times Thursday evening.  The complainant was not injured and said the suspect's boyfriend pulled the suspect away.

BURGLARY/VEHICLE: 4500 BLOCK OF SOUTH MEDFORD. Complainant reported that her purse was stolen from her car while she was shopping Thursday afternoon.

BURGLARY/VEHICLE: 2500 BLOCK OF DANIEL MCCALL. Complainant reported that the stereo was stolen from her car while she was shopping Thursday afternoon.

FRAUD: 1200 BLOCK OF DENMAN. Complainant reported that she just discovered that someone used her name and Social Security number to obtain cell phone service in 2003.

THEFT: 2500 BLOCK OF DANIEL MCCALL. Complainant reported that cash and a check were stolen from her purse while she was shopping Thursday.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF A VEHICLE: 4600 BLOCK OF SOUTH MEDFORD DRIVE. Complainant reported that a female friend was supposed to return a car he had rented to the rental office 10 days ago and she left in the car and hasn't returned it to them.

FORGERY/COUNTERFEITING: 1800 BLOCK OF WEST FRANK. Complainant reported that an unknown female apparently stole one of his checks and forged it.

BURGLARY/BUILDING: 2100 BLOCK OF PALMORE STREET. Complainant reported that unknown person or persons entered his residential storage building Wednesday or Thursday and stole a Troy-Built tiller and a 100 pound propane tank.

BURGLARY/VEHICLE: 400 BLOCK OF JEFFERSON. Complainant reported that her wallet was stolen from her vehicle Thursday evening.

THEFT/B: 2500 DANIEL MCCALL DRIVE. A store loss prevention officer reported that an employee had stolen a gift card from a customer at checkout over two weeks ago.  The employee later used the card to make a purchase at the store.  Charges pending.

BURGLARY: 1800 BLOCK OF EAST DENMAN. Complainant reported that someone broke out her car window and stole her purse from her car sometime Wednesday night.

THEFT/B: 2500 DANIEL MCCALL DRIVE. Internal theft was reported by store loss prevention.  An employee was caught loading gift cards without paying and using the gift cards for personal purchases at the store.

THEFT/C: 909 SOUTH MEDFORD. Store clerks reported that a man tried to purchase beer shortly after midnight when sales of alcohol are prohibited.  When told he couldn't buy the beer the suspect left a $20 bill on the counter and said it wasn't stealing since he paid for it.  The store couldn't accept the payment because it was during prohibited hours.
