Oleta Smith Beasley
Oleta Smith Beasley, 92, of Lufkin, was born February 12, 1915, in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Artie (Hill) and Evan Smith. She passed away on Friday, December 28, 2007, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Beasley was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Her favorite things to do included going to church, sewing, painting, reading and bird-watching. Mrs. Beasley had lived in Angelina County all her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Carolyn Sherrer of Lufkin; grandchildren, Conni Sherrer Weaver of Lufkin, Bart Sherrer and wife, Donna of Mt. Enterprise; great grandchildren, Dakoda Sherrer of Port Neches, Larkin Weaver, Lucas Weaver, both of Lufkin, Daniel Sherrer and Kevin Lee Dew, both of Mt. Enterprise; brothers, Ray Smith of Colorado and Earl Smith of Georgetown; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Faye Collins of Lufkin, Bob and Wilma Beasley, J.D. Beasley, all of Nederland, Peggy Bonney of Centralia and Evelyn Smith of Lufkin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Beasley in death was her husband, Clarence B. Beasley, in 1986.
Pallbearers will be James Little, Dakoda Sherrer, Larkin Weaver, Daniel Sherrer, Kevin Lee Dew and Lucas Weaver.
Services for Mrs. Beasley will be held at 12:00 Noon, Monday, December 31, 2007, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Herman Hendrix officiating. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
