East Texas gas is higher than the state average of $2.89. Prices fell just before Christmas but have quickly risen in the last few days. According to AAA gas prices are averaging at $2.90 or higher per gallon in the area. It's nearly a 10 cent increase from just a week ago and higher than other areas around the state. We are averaging what prices were a month ago. A year ago at this time the price for a gallon of regular was $2.21. The highest gas reported in Texas for regular today is $3.08 a gallon.
