Changes For The New Year

Many East Texans hope 2008 brings plenty of changes for the better in East Texas as well as the rest of the nation. So what's the main thing East Texans tell us they want to see chance in 2008?

"Gas prices!" said Kevin Hutto. "I think they need to find one spot. They need to go down, really.

Travis Haygood said, "There's no sense having gas up to three dollars a gallon. It shouldn't cost that much. They have too many reserves the need to dip into."

While we were able to get a rise out of East Texans about high gas prices, many of them are just as passionate about finding a solution to the war in Iraq this year.

"I'm really not a big fan of being overseas in wars. I think they need to just pull and come back home. Bring all the people back home," Hutto said.

"The war in Iraq needs to be done. I don't know what the solution is, but that needs to be taken care of. I don't think we need to pull out before we finish it," Charles Bailey told us.

"They need to try to end the war so no more people get killed. I've never been to the army myself, but i've seen how people go over there and get killed and don't get to a chance to come back and see their family or their kids," added Hutto.

While their opinions vary, all the East Texans we talked to say they expect 2008 to be a promising year locally as well as nationally.
