The Nacogdoches football team's 4-and-3 district record wasn't good enough to make the playoffs this season. Next fall it will be.
Class 4A superintendents voted to add a fourth playoff team for all districts. Currently only the top three teams make the postseason. If approved by the Texas Education Agency Commissioner Robert Scott, the change will take place next school year. The playoffs will mirror the one already used in Class 5A
Nacogdoches Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Bill Harper says the ruling is great news.
"It's a great thing once you get so many kids involved," Harper says. "You never know what will happen when you get into the playoffs. I've coached long enough to remember when only one team made the playoffs."
The ruling will effect all sports.
