Ted Evan Stewart

Ted Evan Stewart, 50, of Toledo, Ohio, was born March 22, 1957, in Lufkin, Texas, the son of Oleta (Mitchell) and the late Bill M. Stewart. He passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in Sylvania, Ohio.

Mr. Stewart grew up in Lufkin and graduated from Lufkin High School. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lufkin. He worked as a disc jockey for several radio stations as "Scott McKay." Ted loved music, playing golf, and fishing. He was also very interested in Native American culture. He was currently employed as a security guard for Lourdes College. Ted had resided in Toledo, Ohio, for the past 9 months, and had also lived in Nashville, Tennessee.

Survivors include his mother, Oleta Stewart of Lufkin; brother, David Justus Stewart of Toledo, Ohio; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Marty Cipolla of Fort Worth; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Kim Stewart of Huntington; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Keith Lewing of Lufkin; brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Darlene Stewart of Houston; friend, Jonah Gyuras of Toledo, Ohio; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Ted in death were his father, Bill Stewart, in April 2007; and his grandparents, Ray and Lillie Mae Stewart, and Sherman and Zula Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Bill Stewart, Mitchell Stewart, Tim Stewart, Clark Lewing, Tyler Lewing, and Keith Lewing.

Honorary pallbearers will be the "Brothers of the Cup" coffee group.

Expressions of sympathy in Ted's memory may be made to the Heritage Village, P.O. Box 888, Woodville, TX 75979; to Calvary Baptist Church, 516 Montrose, Lufkin, TX 75901; or to the American Heart Association, 5604 Old Bullard Rd., Suite 106, Tyler, TX 75703.

Services for Mr. Stewart will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2008, in the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Randy Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
