Funeral services for Tommy Looney, 71, of Hudson will be held Thursday, January 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Harold Hancock and Dean Bullock officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.

Mr. Looney was born March 29, 1936 in Houston, Texas to Clora (Fenley) and Joe W. Looney, Sr., and died Monday, January 14, 2008 in a local hospital.

Mr. Looney had resided in Angelina County most of his life. He graduated from Alto ISD, and attended barber's school in Fort Worth as well as Pineywoods Business College. Mr. Looney served in the U.S. Navy from 1954 to 1958. He retired from Georgia Pacific following 31 years of service. At the time of his retirement he was a Maintenance Superintendent. Mr. Looney was a member of the Timberland Drive Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Nita Looney of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Suzanne and Gerald Ford of Lufkin and Stacey and Doug Bancroft of Dallas; son, Kirk Looney, Sr. of Lufkin; son and daughter-in-law, Kyle and Julie Looney of Lufkin; daughter-in-law, Mona Looney of Lufkin; grandchildren, Roman, Brennan, Josh, Jake, Kirk Jr., Nate, Courtney, Amanda, Allie, Nikki and Jalyssa; sisters and brothers-in-law, Joyce and Johnny Waldie and Martha and Arthur Bird, all of Arlington; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Valerie Looney of Wortham; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe W. Looney, Jr.; and sister, Linda Jewel Looney.

Pallbearers will be George Holmes, Hollis Stringer, Roman Looney, Josh Ford, Kirk Looney, Jr., Royce Fritz, Jr. and Jake Bailey.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
