Many mothers will always remember and cherish when they saw their babies for the first time. For some people that can be a time of worry. "Some moms find themselves in certain situations where they need some help, they need, maybe resources," Al Ross with KSWP said. So local radio stations along with pregnancy help centers in Lufkin and Nacogdoches have stepped in to help. "The KSWP KAVX world's largest baby shower is an opportunity for the community to come along side us to offer hope and encouragement to women who may be a little stressed, have anxiety or maybe a little fear about how they're going to get the baby items they need for their baby," Paula Havard with the Pregnancy Help Ceneter explained.
The group offers year long assistance to mothers in need. But gathering the needed items can sometimes be hard. That's why they ask East Texans to help restock their supply. "Those resource rooms are filled up and then they have lots of options no matter what situation they find themselves in," Ross said. Drop boxes are set up at Wal-Mart and the pregnancy help centers in Lufkin and Nacgodches. Putting items in them will help a new family start off on the right track. Havard says they do it because, "We want all babies to come in to a world and to a family that is properly prepared so the way that we do that is through education." The more items donated, the more families the centers will help. If you want to donate go to one of the locations below.
