New Ranger Station

News Release:

Sabine National Forest has a new ranger office located outside Milam on Highway 21 East.

The office, at 5050 Hwy. 21 East just before the Pendleton Bridge, is situated amongst the tall pines of the Sabine National Forest and on the shores of Toledo Bend Reservoir.

The new telephone number is 409-625-1940.  "This new location is much more convenient for our forest visitors," Ranger Eddie Taylor said.  "Our old office was in a former nursing home and was difficult to find."  The Sabine office is the third ranger office in Texas to be constructed by the Seabees, the construction battalions of the U.S. Navy.

Other offices are on the Angelina, and Davy Crockett National Forests.  "By building on federal land and having much of the work done by the Seabees, we were able to save a significant amount of money," Taylor said.  "We hope our new location will make it easier for visitors to get information about the forest and Toledo Bend."
