Lena Mae Modisette Edwards

Lena Mae Modisette Edwards, 90, of Pollok, was born September 5, 1917, in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Nora (Martin) and John Modisette. She passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2008, in a Lufkin nursing facility.

Mrs. Edwards was a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was one of seven siblings, and always took care of her younger siblings as they were growing up. During the 1940's, she was employed by Eastex Laundry for a number of years. Mrs. Edwards enjoyed sewing and quilting. She was also an avid gardener, and loved her flowers. She was a loving, caring soul, who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Clawson Assembly of God Church, and had lived in Angelina County all her life.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Betty Edwards of Pollok; grandchildren and their spouses, Malisa and Jason Thacker, Jeffrey and Sheryl Edwards, all of Pollok; great grandsons, Jacob Edwards, Jared Edwards and Brayden Thacker; brothers and sisters-in-law, John Morris and Mary Beth Modisette of Lufkin, Leonard and Velma Dee Modisette of Pollok; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Thomas Ladd of Pollok; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Mrs. Edwards in death were her husband, Otto Edwards, in 1989; her stepson, Glenn Edwards; sisters, Mamie O'Quinn and Mildred Mott; and brother, Elbert Modisette.

Pallbearers will be Collis Modisette, Dennis Modisette, Kenny Modisette, Jeffrey Edwards, Jason Thacker and Wade Modisette.

Services for Mrs. Edwards will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 26, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kevin Poage and Reverend Clayton McClendon officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
