NHS Principal Resigning

Nacogdoches High School is losing its popular principal. Dennis Williams, a man whose motto is, ' firm, fair and friendly ' has announced his resignation. As soon as he can he'll be leaving Nacogdoches for an assistant superintendent's job in the Kilgore Independent School District.   Williams said,    " Probably about 3 or 4 weeks ago that the situation arose and it was back in my hometown of Kilgore. I got some phone calls to see if I was interested in it. I pondered and thought, discussed it with my family, did a lot of praying about it and didn't know exactly how it would turn out. "

In 2004, Williams quickly gained the respect of teachers, staff, students and parents as McMichael Middle School principal. The next school year he was transferred to the high school.

NISD Superintendent Dr Rodney Hutto said, "There's never a good time to lose a good principal. We're approaching taks and teacher evaluations, but at the same time we can't hold a professional back from advancing his career. " Hutto said he will be meeting with the board and other administrators to see how to best prepare for Williams' resignation. No replacement has been named. Hutto said, " A high school principal is a critical position.  Lots of thought must go into the matter."
