Funeral services for Edith Guidry, 85, of Zavalla will be held Sunday, January 27, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home in Huntington with Brother Grady Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Boykin Cemetery.
Mrs. Guidry was born January 18, 1923 in Baird, Texas to Annie (Boykin) and Augustus McSpadden, and died Thursday, January 24, 2008 at her residence.
Mrs. Guidry was a lifetime resident of Zavalla, and was the fourth generation to live on and work the Boykin family farm. She worshipped with the Herbert W. Armstrong Worldwide Church of God.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, John "Roy" Guidry of Zavalla; son and daughter-in-law, Howard and Dwana Guidry of Lufkin; daughter, Claudia Guidry of Zavalla; grandson and wife, Jason and Amanda Carrell of Zavalla; granddaughter and husband, Tara and Jimmy Boulware of Zavalla; great-granddaughters, Summer Carrell and Elizabeth Carrell, both of Zavalla; great-grandson, Justin Boulware of Zavalla; and special nephew, Marcus McSpadden of Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, John McSpadden; and sister, Bessie Cox.
Pallbearers will be Marcus McSpadden, Jason Carrell, Claude Hamilton, Randy Earl Evans, Larry Gene Dykes and Bob Boulware.
Memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, North Carolina 28607, who assisted the Guidry family with Hurricane Rita recovery efforts.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home in Huntington.
