Lesley Kresie, MD, joined Carter BloodCare, the community blood center January 7 as Medical Director of Laboratory Services. She joins the Medical Services Department which oversees the medical aspects of the blood center's programs in blood donor collection and storage; therapeutic apheresis; reference laboratory testing; and hospital blood banking. Among her areas of responsibilities are Components, Testing and Labeling, Hospital Services, Information Services, Donor Notification, Special Donations and the HLA lab. As a Medical Director, Dr. Kresie will also be available to speak with donors, physicians, laboratories and other members of the public.

Dr. Kresie was most recently the Medical Director of Transfusion Services at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. Prior to that, she served as Chief of Clinical Pathology for the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. Dr. Kresie is a medical graduate of the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse and received her clinical pathology training at the same institution. She is board certified in Clinical Pathology, Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine and Hematology with the American Board of Pathology. Dr. Kresie is actively involved as a member of several committees for the College of American Pathologists, AABB and the Texas Medical Association.
