Graveside services for Loney Verlene (Helen) Burges, 80, of Lufkin, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2008, in the Old Union Cemetery, with Reverend Billy McCall officiating.
Mrs. Burges was born November 14, 1927, in Nacogdoches, Texas, and passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2008, at Castle Pines Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Burges was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Doyle Burges of Lufkin; son, Daniel Wesley Burges of Dallas; daughter, Dee Ann Burges Palmer and her husband Bill Palmer of Lufkin; seven grandchildren, Christina Wilson Hodges and husband Matt of Farmersville, C. J. Wilson and wife Angela of Lufkin, LeAnna Hendricks of Lufkin, Lauren Burges of Dallas, Billy, George and Annie Palmer of Lufkin; five great-grandchildren, Dakota Hodges, Levi Hodges, Alexus Wilson, Carly Wilson and Breigh Guidry; sister, Juanita Phillips King and husband James of Nacogdoches; brother, Charles E. Jones of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mrs. Burges was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Olive Banks Jones Phillips and Robert E. Jones, Sr.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Burges' memory to Hospice in the Pines, 116 S. Raguet, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
