Muriel Mott Fortenberry, 92, of Zavalla, was born August 2, 1915, in Mott, Texas, the daughter of the late Leona (Sinclair) and Hardy M. Mott. She passed away Friday, February 1, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Fortenberry was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a homemaker. She was a volunteer for Huntington Housing Authority and the Meals on Wheels program. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntington.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Dr. Baltazar Acevedo of Brownsville; granddaughter and her husband, Adrienne and Sean Lothrey of Ft. Worth; niece, Dr. Paula Nichols of Beaumont; and nephew, Patrick Dudley of Oklahoma.
Mrs. Fortenberry was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James C. (Claude) Fortenberry, on August 15, 1998.
Family and friends will meet and vistit at First Baptist Church in Huntington at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Graveside services for Mrs. Fortenberry will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 3, 2008, in the Zavalla Cemetery, with Dr. Darryl Smith officiating.
