Incentives Given for Lufkin Economic Development

by Jessica Cervantez

The Lufkin city council approved the updates to the economic development incentive policy

The incentives would affect industrial development and mainstream revitalization.

Incentives would be awarded to a current industry that is in good standing with all taxing entities for expansion projects. They would be available for use of an existing building, bringing a building into compliance, and addressing environmental deficiencies. Employers who provide higher paying jobs could eligible as well.

The economic development director says these incentives is a method to keep Lufkin competitive.
