Garland Wayne Havard, 60, of Huntington was born in Angelina County, Texas, the son of the late Ruby (Curry) and Delbert Havard. He passed away Saturday, February 9, 2008, in the Houston Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Havard worked as a self-employed log cutter for many years. He was also a loving husband, father and brother. Garland was of the Pentecostal faith, and a United State Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Havard of Huntington; son, Joshua Blake Havard of Huntington; daughter, Sasha Gabrielle Havard of Huntington; sister, Doris Havard of Hutto; brother and his wife, Milton and Miranda Havard of Pollok; sister-in-laws, Dorothy Yorek of New Waverly, Julia Pavelock of New Waverly, Barbara Henderson of Lufkin, Linda Patton of Lufkin, Susan Mills of Lufkin, Sharon Adams of Pollok; brother-in-law, Danny Flowers of Lufkin; and many other family members and friends.
Mr. Havard was preceded in death by his infant son, Travis Havard.
Pallbearers will be Paul Havard, Randy Havard, Ronald Gilcrease, Terry Stephens, Dustin Golden and Justin Nerren.
Services for Mr. Havard will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 14, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Bailey and Pastor M.H. Shubert officiating. Interment will follow in the Wallace Chapel Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
