Dr. Theodore Arden Amundson

We mourn the loss of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle, Dr. Theodore Arden Amundson. Born December 6, 1925, in Fargo, North Dakota, to parents, Theodore Amundson and Alma Quamme Amundson. Dr. Amundson passed away in a Lufkin hospital at 2:40 a.m. February 11, 2008.

Preceded in death by first wife, Arlene Amundson, of 3 years and wife, Dr. Judith A. Amundson, of 46 years. Also by brother, Burton Amundson.

Survived by daughter, Alberta Potts; grandson, Matthew Thompson, wife Alicia and family of Kingwood, Texas; granddaughter, Becky Albrecht, husband Mark and family of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and granddaughter, Teresa Kilgore, husband Jonnie and family of Groveton, Texas. Other survivors include brother, Omar Amundson and wife Rita of Walcott, ND; sister, Ruth Svenkerud of Fargo, ND; nieces, Twila Hanks, husband Greg and family, Heidi Pearson/Amundson, husband Rick and sons, Sonja Amundson; and nephews, Barry Amundson and family, Eric Amundson, wife Betty and family, Monty Amundson, wife Lisa and family, and Randy Amundson, wife M.J. and family.

Dr. Amundson served in the Air Force and attended Concordia College and the University of Minnesota, where he obtained his Masters Degree in Education. Coaching and teaching at the University of New Mexico, Texas A&M Prairie View and St. Augustine in North Carolina, and in Littleton and Denver, Colorado. Dr. Amundson dedicated 53 years to coaching and teaching in all levels of education.

Dr. Amundson will be missed by so many family and friends across the country.

Visitation will be at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the Lufkin First Church of the Nazarene at 1604 South Medford Drive on Friday, February 15, 2008, at 11:00 a.m.
