Freedom Fighters: George McMichaels

George McMichaels was nineteen when he went into the Army in 1950.

Before the year was out, he was dodging bullets and mortar fire in Korea. McMichaels says there wasn't a day there that someone wasn't firing at him.

In the battle for Pork Chop Hill, five of the bullets hit their mark. McMichaels was wounded twice in the leg and three times in the stomach. He lay out all night in fifty five below zero temperatures before he was rescued.

His survival can only be descsribed as a miracle. George mcMichael has experienced and seen thngs in Korea that haunt his dreams even today and yet, he says he still would go back and do it all over again for his country.
