A hazardous spill in Lufkin will have crews working through the night. Just after noon today residents in a neighborhood just outside loop 287 on Frank street smelled a strong odor. Lufkin police were called to the scene and determined a waste material had leaked from a tank at H&W Petroleum. The liquid leaked into Cripple Creek which feeds into Hurricane Creek. Crews were able to contain the spill and cleanup efforts are now underway. Lufkin police warn area residents to be cautious near the creeks and avoid burning near them.
