William Ogden Luckey
William Ogden Luckey, 71, of Lufkin, was born April 1, 1936, in Jasper, Texas, the son of the late Ethel (Shires) and Bill Luckey. He passed away on Thursday, February 21, 2008, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mr. Luckey was a retired commercial painter. He served his country with military service in both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy. Mr. Luckey enjoyed raising his cows and pigs, loved to trade with people, and loved all aspects of farming. He was a member of Keltys First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his four sons, Mark Luckey of Houston, Michael Dwayne Luckey, William Earl Luckey and Billy John Luckey, all of Lufkin; his one daughter, Nova Joyce Ferguson of Huntington; brother, Clifton Luckey of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Billie Yates of Lubbock; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mr. Luckey in death were his parents; one brother, Donald Ray Luckey; and one sister, Rose Garlington.
Pallbearers will be Clyde Fussell, James Brooks Williams, Sam Wells, Timothy Wilkinson, Jimmy Wayne Williams, and Ronald Wells.
Honorary pallbearer is Dakota Brooks Williams.
Services for Mr. Luckey will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 24, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Nathan Scoggins officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
