Warrant Sweep

by Christa Lollis

Law enforcement agencies will be out in full force tomorrow rounding up anyone with outstanding warrants.   Lufkin police and the City Marshall's office are teaming up to find East Texans who have unpaid tickets. Officers will be going to people's homes and places of work to bring them in to see a judge. The sweep is conducted to reduce the backlog of class C misdemeanor warrants in the city. The list of people with warrants is lengthy and officers hope this sweep will help show people if you get a ticket, you need to pay. If you believe you have an outstanding warrant you can still go to the police department Friday morning to work out arrangements. If you can't afford your fine you can do community service or work out a payment plan.
