Despite four straight trips, Kennard knows how tough it is to get to Austin. But it's even tougher bringing home the title. The Lady Tigers lost to Follett in the Class A Division II State Championship 71 to 51.
Senior Felicia Skinner tried to keep the Lady Tigers in the game with 28 points, but Follett jumped to a ten point lead in the first quarter. Kennard could never catch up.
"It was one of those overall days that everyone goes through," Kennard Head Coach Chris McClain says. "We just so happened to go through it at the state championship game."
Early foul trouble put the Lady Tigers in a big hole. Senior Erica Adair had three quick fouls. Kennard never recovered. The Lady Tigers know they can play better.
"If we were to play them (Follett) again it could possibly be a different game," McClain says. "But right now they're the state champions and we're the runners up."
Kennard finishes the year 31 and 6.
