Texas Independence Day

by Christa Lollis

Many East Texans gathered today in Nacogdoches to honor the day that Texas gained it's independence from Mexico.   The Daughters of the Republic of Texas held the event at the old university building. The mayor, district attorney, sheriff and many other county officials were there to remember the day these women hope no Texan will ever forget. The ceremony is held every year on March 2nd to remember the men and women that fought for Texas' independence.
