Edward Van Thompson, 79, was born September 11, 1928, in Baytown, Texas, the son of the late Edna (Evans) and Edward Larkin Thompson. He passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at his residence.
Mr. Thompson was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a retired self-employed rancher, and was also the co-owner of Thompson School of Dance. He served his country in the United States Air Force, and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Lufkin.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Thompson of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Jo Thompson and Tim Szymanski of Denver, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Edward Van Jr. "Eddie" and Yalonda Thompson of Lufkin; granddaughters, Anna Claire Szymanski and Lacey Jo Thompson; grandsons, Edward Van Thompson III and Jeremy Blake Griffith; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Memorial services for Mr. Thompson will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Carol C. Turner officiating.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
