Funeral services for Era "Vernell" Temple Griggs, 74, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kerry Baxley officiating and Kent Henson delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in the Old Union Cemetery.
Ms. Griggs was born June 22, 1933 in Angelina County, Texas to the late Lucille (Batton) and Claude Temple, and died Thursday, March 6, 2008 in a local hospital. Ms. Griggs was a lifetime resident of Lufkin. She had been employed by Woody's Toys, and retired from William George Produce.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Shelley Mathews of Cleveland; grandchildren and spouses, Angie and Kane Angers, Chris and Stacey Wilson and Amanda and Allen Farley; great-grandchildren, Kagan, Addyson, Aubree and Elijah; sisters, Pauline Trevathan of Lumberton and Irene Schoolcraft of Lufkin; nephews, Ronnie Schoolcraft and James Wayne Temple; great-nieces, Courtney Murati, Amber and Shanna Travathan; and great-nephews, Jason and Sean Travathan and Shawn Temple.
Pallbearers will be Kent Henson, Billy Farrell, Scott York, Randy Turner, Robert Levens, Dennis Bell, Scott Storment and Kane Angers.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
