The Basketball season is officially over.
Goodrich 50, Laneville 56
Marcus Anderson scored 25 points, leading Laneville to the Class 1A Division II state championship with a 56-50 victory over Goodrich .
Byron Blanton had 18 points and 12 rebounds for Laneville (32-5), which had returned to the title game after losing in the final last season.
Laneville was the smallest school at the state tournament with 40 students.
Of the 19 males enrolled, 14 played basketball.
DeShune Williams scored 20 points and Steven Chavarria scored 15 for Goodrich (32-6).
Goodrich Head Coach Lester King summed it up, "Nothing was going tonight for us, we could not get lay-ups, we couldn't make anything, we could not get put backs, it was just that nothing was going right, our defensive game was not where it should have been, and our rebounding game was not either."
Thorndale 53, Dallardsville Big Sandy 42
Brandon Irwin scored 19 points, nine in the fourthquarter, to lead defending champion Thorndale to a 53-42 win overDallardsville Big Sandy for the Class 1A Division I championship.
Corey Schneider added 18 points Saturday, hitting four3-pointers, for Thorndale (36-1), whose only loss this season wasto a Class 4A opponent.
Corey Tolar scored 14 points to lead Big Sandy (27-11), which made its first state tournament in 20 years.
"We had to deal with so much through the year, I am very proud of the kids, and what we had to deal with this year, and the fact we got to this position, we are very blessed," said Big Sandy Head Coach Kevin Foster.
