Hollis Ray Barnhart
Hollis Ray Barnhart, 78, of Lufkin, was born February 18, 1930, in Nacogdoches County, Texas, the son of the late Cleo (Byrd) and Jesse James Barnhart. He passed away Thursday, March 13, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mr. Barnhart was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He was retired from Lufkin Industries, and was a member of Redland Baptist Church. Mr. Barnhart served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Barnhart of Lufkin; stepson and daughter-in-law, Marty and Nanette Lewis of Charlotte, N.C.; grandchildren, Ethan and Hannah Lewis of Charlotte, N.C.; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Rankin, Danny Barnhart, Steve Barnhart, Beamon Calhoun, Bo May and Bill McFarland.
Services for Mr. Barnhart will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 17, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Barry Rankin, Bro. Ty Phillips and Reverend Marty Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
