Azalea Trail Filling Hotels

Hundreds of visitors in Nacogdoches are taking to the Nacogdoches Azalea Trail. Almost every day a bus load of visitors, families and children walk the trail through the azalea gardens. In addition they drive on the neighborhood streets of Nacogdoches where the blooms can be found.

Increased revenue from the hotel motel occupancy tax is paying for widespread advertising.   Nacogdoches Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Melissa Sanford said,    " We have had already since the first of March we've had over 500 people in our visitor's center. Our hotels have been full for the last 2 weekends for sure and next three weekends are full also. "

A Saturday Easter egg hunt on the Tucker grounds on Raguet Street and display of azalea garden photo contest winners at the Art Center are just some of the trail activities this weekend. Go to  for photos and bloom updates.
