Mary Ruth Blain
Funeral services for Mary Ruth Blain, 85, of Huntington will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Huntington First Baptist Church with Dr. Darryl R. Smith and Shane Stover officiating. Interment will follow in the Huntington Oddfellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Blain was born May 9, 1922 in Harrisburg, Arkansas to Nancy Octavia (Hedrick) and Charlie Carlton Taylor. As a testimony of her faith, the Lord took Mrs. Blain home on Easter Sunday morning, March 23, 2008, in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones.
A former resident of Arkansas and Mississippi, Mrs. Blain had resided in Huntington for the past 34 years. Her calling from God was caring for children. She kept children in her home for over 30 years and worked in the Huntington First Baptist Church Nursery for 20 years, where she was a member for 34 years.
Mrs. Blain was a devoted and loving wife for 57 years, four months. She was also a homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Blain also enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and cooking.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roy Walker of Huntington; son and daughter-in-law, Carlton (Bill) and Nancy Blain of Leesburg; granddaughters and husbands, Shilo and David Aguilar and Kyrie and Juan Reyes, all of Huntington and Valerie and John Sperry of Marshall; granddaughter, Katrina Blain of Lufkin; grandson, Adam Blain of Harlingen; great-granddaughters, Blain Jones, Tatum and Trinity Aguilar, Alexus and Isabelle Reyes, all of Huntington and Amaya Blain of Leesburg; and great-grandsons, Tailore and Tristan Aguilar and Ethan Reyes, all of Huntington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Octavia and Charlie Taylor; husband, William Doyle Blain; sons, Richard and Dewayne Blain; granddaughter, Kellie Blain; and 11 brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Tailore Aguilar, David Aguilar, Juan Reyes, John Sperry, Sean Willis and Ray Jones.
Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Blain, Ethan Reyes, Tristan Aguilar, Glenn Walker, Ted Ivy, Linwood Havard, Dee Russell, Doyle Rush, Billy Porter, Albert Marmon, Boots Morehead and Dwaine Wade.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington First Baptist Church Building Fund, 702 North Main Street, Huntington, Texas 75949 or Hospice in the Pines, 116 South Raguet Street, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Huntington First Baptist Church.
