Services for Thomas Henry Hanes, Sr., 57, of Pollok, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2008, in the Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Ricky Hanes and Reverend Richard Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Gann Cemetery.
Mr. Hanes was born September 11, 1950, in Cass County, Texas, and passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mr. Hanes was a devoted and loving husband, son, father and grandfather. He was retired from Champions Paper Co. He was of the Assembly of God Faith.
Survivors include his wife, Velma Marline Hanes of Pollok; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ricky Holt of Wells; son, Thomas Henry Hanes, Jr. and Tina of Pollok; son and daughter-in-law, Christopher (Corn Dog) and Paula Hanes of Hudson; grandchildren, Ashley Dennis, Adam Lee Holt, Chelsy Holt, Devin Hanes, Landon Hanes, Liberty Basey; great-granddaughter, BreAnna Dennis; father and mother, James and Ola Mae Hanes of Lufkin; brother, Richard Hanes of Diboll; sisters, Theary Johnson of Lufkin, Mable Strange and Tiny Cook, both of Pollok; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Mr. Hanes was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Lee Holt, in 1990.
Pallbearers will be Chris Erwin, Joe Younge, Wayne Lusk, Jerry Poe, Glenn Youngblood, Jr. and Jason Dennis.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joey Hanes, Lynn Johnson and J. J. Cook.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home.
