Freddie Meadows, 89, of Lufkin, was born February 23, 1919, in Alto, Texas, the daughter of the late Michie (Allen) and Fred Powers. She passed away Monday, March 24, 2008, in a Lufkin hospital.
Mrs. Meadows was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother, as well as a homemaker.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Rayford and Mildred Meadows of Trinity, Kenneth and Mary Meadows of Spring and Melvin and Virginia Meadows of Livingston; son, Don Meadows of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Roy Forester of Broaddus; sister, Shirley Rast of Diboll; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and a number of other family members.
Mrs. Meadows was preceded in death by her husband, M. G. Meadows.
Pallbearers will be Melvin Meadows, Jr., James Meadows, Joe Allen Meadows, Steven Flanery, Michael Flanery and David Allen.
Services for Mrs. Meadows will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 27, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Don McNaughton officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
