The first night of the Nacogdoches Pro Rodeo kicked off on Thursday. It was preceded by the Steer Show where 4-H and FFA members competed in steer showmanship. This year's Grand Champion steer is a Simental owned by Jared Chandler of the Nacogdoches Livestock 4-H. The Reserve Champion is an exotic breed owned by Clint Lowery of the Douglass FFA. On Friday is the buyers dinner at 5:00. The premium sale of 55 steers is at 6:00. The majority of the winning bids will go toward scholarship funds. The rodeo continues through Saturday.
