Funding for Rural East Texas Health Network

News Release:

U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX), Texas' senior senator, today announced a $179,398 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) grant for the Burke Center in Lufkin to address health issues in East Texas.

"This HRSA grant will provide our health care institutions with the resources they need to save lives," Sen. Hutchison said. "This funding will help the Burke Center better serve the mental health care needs of East Texas."

According to HHS, this funding will help establish a region-wide network to address behavioral and primary health issues in rural East Texas communities. The Burke Center will use this grant to purchase computer hardware and software, develop training curricula, and maintain the network's website and database.
