Mary Ellen Wade, 82, of Zavalla, was born November 1, 1925, in Angelina County, Texas, the daughter of the late Minnie Ann (Snowden) and Thomas F. Clevenger. She passed away on Friday, April 4, 2008, in a Lufkin hospice facility.
Mrs. Wade was a retired home health caregiver. She was also a homemaker and a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mrs. Wade was a member of the Community Pentecostal Church of God in Zavalla, and had resided in Zavalla most of her life.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Hilda and Kenneth Rash of Splendora, Evelyn and Dennis Rice of Homer, Gloria Jean Wade of Lufkin, and Martha and Pat Campbell of Etoile; grandchildren, Ricky Rash, Ken Rash, Shawn Rash, Luther (Allen) Rice, Heather Modisette, Marty Campbell and Cody Campbell; great grandchildren, Lauren Rash, Austin Lane Rash, Kyle Chase Rash, Aspen Brianne Modisette, Gunnar Cade Modisette and Kalie Jade Campbell; sister, Charlae Mae Franklin; sister-in-law, Myrtie D. Gubbs; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Mrs. Wade in death were her parents; her husband, John Harmon Wade, in 1995; her sisters, Annie Robinson and Rosa Lou Smith; and brothers, Ray, Bill and Hardy Clevenger.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Ricky Rash, Luther (Allen) Rice, Ken Rash, Marty Campbell, Shawn Rash, Cody Campbell, and David Modisette.
Services for Mrs. Wade will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 6, 2008, in the Community Pentecostal Church of God in Zavalla with Reverend David Elam and Reverend Jesse Brecheen officiating. Interment will follow in the Zavalla Cemetery.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
