Lenore Woodall Parker

Lenore Woodall Parker, 92, of Lake Mary, Florida, former longtime resident of Lufkin, was born November 4, 1915, in Carthage, Texas, the daughter of the late Georgie Melvinia (Summers) and Richard Miles Woodall. She passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2008, in a nursing facility in Winter Springs, Florida.

Mrs. Parker had worked in various positions with Savings and Loans in Lufkin and Nacogdoches, and became one of the first female executives in that business in Lufkin. Mrs. Parker was employed by Lufkin Federal Savings and Loan at her retirement. She had a Bachelor's degree from Texas State College for Women (now known as Texas Women's University). Mrs. Parker was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Lufkin.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jinny and Rob Copeland of Lake Mary, Florida; daughter, Elaine Flowers of Winter Springs, Florida; grandchildren, Christopher Taylor of Dallas, Robby Copeland and Julie Copeland, both of Longwood, Florida; great granddaughter, Katelyn Copeland of Longwood, Florida; as well as several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Preceding Mrs. Parker in death were her parents; her husband, Reagan Parker, who was a former Lufkin Mayor and City Manager; son, Lloyd David Parker; and brother, George Woodall.

Pallbearers will be John Kirkman, Marion (Tutts) Stoddard, nephew Dick Woodall, Christopher Taylor, Robby Copeland, and Nathan Shaffer.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church, 1300 S. First Street, Lufkin, TX 75904 or to the American Heart Association, 5604 Old Bullard Rd., Suite 106, Tyler, TX 75703.

Services for Mrs. Parker will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in the First Christian Church with Reverend Mike Hunter and Reverend Larry Murphy (ret.) officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.

Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
