FWesley "Dunk" Allenuneral services for Wesley "Dunk" Allen, 87, of Lufkin will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ray Pinner, Reverend Ronnie Frankens, and Reverend Bud Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Whitehouse Cemetery.

Mr. Allen was born May 11, 1920 in Angelina County, Texas (Allentown) to Ellie Wilson (Burns) and Louellon Thomas Allen and died Thursday, April 10, 2008 in a local hospital. He resided in Allentown all his life.

Mr. Allen served in the United States Army during World War II.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  Mr. Allen was a member of Allentown United Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Frances Allen of Lufkin; daughter and son-in-law, Ellie and Gerald Crump of Lufkin; sons and daughters-in-law, Wesley Allen, Jr. and Barbara of Pollok, Bobby Frank and Rebecca Allen of Lufkin; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Robert Allen, Keith Jones, Bobby Jones, Bobby (Bubba) Allen, Gerald Crump, Jr., and Richard Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Allen, Todd Dailey, John Beauchamp, Bryan Fraley and Jed von Heimburg.

The family would like to thank special caregivers, Tammy and Cliff Lewis.  And also, a special thank you to the staff of NStep and Grace Care Center.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home.
