Virginia Torres, 60, of Diboll, was born July 29, 1947, in China, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of the late Carmen (Gonzalez) and Armando Gonzalez. She passed away Sunday, April 13, 2008, in a local hospital.
Mrs. Torres was a homemaker, and a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Primera Iglesia Cristiana Bautista Church.
Survivors include her husband, Martin Torres of Diboll; daughters and sons-in-law, Maria and Gerardo Rojas of Diboll, Brenda and Jorge Salazar of Lufkin, Denise Torres and Luis Castillo of Diboll and Maria Louisa and Oscar Chavez of Lufkin; grandchildren, Gerardo Rojas, Jr., Damyan Rojas, Luis Angel Salazar, Jacob Salazar, Makayla Salazar, Luis Castillo, Jr., Gemini Castillo, Marcy Chavez and Oscar Chavez, Jr.; brother, Rogelio Gonzalez of Harlingen; sister, Maria Longoria of Harlingen; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Torres was preceded in death by her brothers, Guillermo Gonzalez, Ramiro Gonzalez and Armando Gonzalez, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Jorge Salazar, Gerardo Rojas, Luis Angel Salazar and Guillermo Gonzalez, Jr.
Services for Mrs. Torres will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, in the Primera Iglesia Cristiana Bautista Church, with Reverend Carlos Alegria officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
