Walter Coyt Hight, Sr., 74, of Lufkin, was born November 1, 1933, in Louisville, Mississippi, the son of the late Mable (Scrivener) and Leo C. Hight. He passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2008, in a local nursing facility.
Mr. Hight retired from the Angelina County District Attorney's Office in 1996. He served in Angelina County law enforcement for 36 years. He also owned and operated Hight Body Shop. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Coyt Jr. and Angela Hight of Kyle, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Robyn Hight and Tony and Faye Hight, all of Lufkin; and a number of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hight was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Hight in 2003; 6 sisters; and three brothers.
Mr. Hight's nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be all former and present law enforcement personnel.
Services for Mr. Hight will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Kevin Hight officiating. Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home.
