Hudson used to be known for great softball teams. Beginning in 1994, the Lady Hornets made 11 straight playoff appearances, three trips to the regional finals and one to state. Since 2004, Hudson has not played a single playoff game.
That's about to change as the Lady Hornets clinched a playoff berth on Tuesday night.
"We've finally proven ourselves and it's just amazing that we finally get a chance to go," senior Paige Bonner says.
The win ends a four year playoff drought for all Lady Hornet athletes. Many of the Hudson girls play softball and basketball and have never tasted playoff success in either sport.
"I've wait for years for this chance and came real close my sophomore year," senior Hillary Shaddox says. "But I don't even know how to describe how happy I am right now that we're going."
"This team never gave up," senior Jessica Garcia adds. " That's one thing you cannot do is give up. You've got to work together. And the playoffs, that's a big deal. That's what we all wanted, was playoffs."
The playoffs begin next week.
