Sabrina Dykes Found Guilty

An East Texas woman on trial for killing a man in a hit and run has been found guilty.

A jury deliberated for several hours today before finding Sabrina Dykes guilty of aggravated assault and criminally negligent homicide. Dykes also pleaded guilty to failure to stop and render aid and assistance. She was found not guilty of manslaughter.

Authorities say she was responsible for the June 2006 death of Jeffery Myrick. Yesterday several witnesses testified that they saw Dykes's car hit Myrick's motorcycle after she failed to yield the right of way at FM 2021 and Highway 59 North. Witnesses also say Dykes fled the scene after she hit Myrick. The punishment phase of Dykes's trial starts Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 9am at the Angelina County Courthouse.
