Funeral services for Earl P. Taylor, 81, of Lufkin will be held Saturday, April 26, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in the Carroway-Claybar Funeral Home Chapel with grandson, Derron Johnson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Newman Cemetery.
Mr. Taylor was born May 27, 1926, in Weches, Houston County, Texas to Allie Mae (Compton) and James Benjamin Taylor and died Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in a local hospital. He had resided in Lufkin most of his life.
Mr. Taylor served in the United States Navy during World War II. He liked to hunt and fish, and his hobby was whittling. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Taylor of Lufkin; son, Richard Taylor of Lufkin; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and J. Fred Hoge and Darnell and Danny Hodges of Lufkin; grandchildren, Belinda and David Kulesza, Derron Johnson, all of Tampa, LaDona Wagner of Lufkin, Dedra Taylor of Kilgore, Jason and Karen Hodges of Lufkin, Richard L. Taylor of Kilgore, Nikki Hodges of Lufkin, Crissi Stone of Lufkin, Jennifer and Jeremy Smith of Clute; 20 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; brothers-in-law, Ronnie and Danny Blackburn.
Mr. Taylor was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Elwood Taylor; and a granddaughter, Rebecca "Becca" Taylor.
Pallbearers will be J. R. Blackburn, Jason Hodges, Patrick Blackburn, Cory Wagner, Thomas Wilkerson, and Derron Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Wells, Reagan Kelsey, Speedy Myers, and Ed Mount.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
