KTRE has learned tonight that the Davita Lufkin Dialysis Center will be temporarily shut down.
The decision came late this afternoon. According the Jerry McNeill, Vice President of Davita Dialysis, the center decided to 'voluntarily' close because of recent systematic complications with several patients. Davita Lufkin Diaylsis, located in the 700 block of South John Reddit will be closed as of tomorrow, April 29th.
They have coordinated with area hospitals and other dialysis facitilities ensure the 150 diplaced patients they serve will continue to received the proper care needed. The center has also contacted the Texas Department of State Health, CDC, and CMS, each will come into the facility to conduct surveys.
The vice president declined to comment on the specifics of the temporary closure but says it was drastic decision that needed to be done for benefit of patient health and safety.
The center has been notifying all of their patients of the immediate closure via telphone and hopes to have contacted them all by tonight.
