New Trash Cans

by Christa Lollis

Some Lufkin residents will soon have more room for their trash.   The city of Lufkin is upgrading the trash carts. The new 96 gallon trash cans will be on the streets as soon as Monday and by July the city hopes all residents who want the bigger trash cans will have them. The solid waste services department hopes that these new trash cans that are 31 gallons bigger will help reduce the litter problem in the area. This summer they will also be picking up recycle bins that people don't use. They say many people use them for trash and it contaminates the recyclables. If you want to keep your smaller cart or your recycle bin, all you have to do is contact the solid waste office.
